Las Vegas, NV – October 10, 2018– From WISPAPALOOZA, Redline Communications (TSX:RDL) and Packerland Broadband announced a new partnership to help address the rural broadband gap using TV White Space (TVWS) technology. Redline, a leader in private wireless networks, will provide its Virtual Fiber™ technology in multiple bands including the TVWS band to Packerland. As a leader in the rural broadband market, Packerland who is also a Microsoft Airband partner, aims at providing coverage to 82,000 people living in the rural regions of northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Packerland will use a mix of technologies to provide broadband service to this customer base, including TVWS which utilizes unused television channels to deliver internet service. TVWS frequencies are particularly well suited for rural markets where delivering high speed internet service to customers must be done over long distances, with significant terrain deviation and often dense foliage.

“We have known Redline for years and used them for backhaul,in a number of projects. The Virtual Fiber, originally designed for remote, industrial markets, delivers both the performance and reliability needed for rural operations like ours, where downtime means long drive times and costly intervention,” said Steve Mason, Director of Wireless Infrastructure at Packerland Broadband. “Redline did not just send us radios but also brought in a team experienced with the product and the challenges of the TV White Space band. They knew what to do and what to expect of their radios and were very accurate in their performance expectations. They greatly simplified the process of testing.”

TV White Space is an important part of the solution for any rural deployment. “Our solutions deliver high speed broadband connections supporting communication in challenging rural terrains, all while protecting broadcasters and other licensees from harmful interference,” said Rob Williams, CEO at Redline. “With our Virtual Fiber™ technology, Redline has been leading the TV White Space market and has been active in digital divide projects for almost a decade. Leveraging the most widely deployed TVWS solution in North America, Packerland will address the digital divide more effectively in Wisconsin and Michigan,” added Williams.
